Subject: Criss Angel editorial
John-Before reading your comments from your July editorial, concerning Criss Angel's "Luxor levitation", I was wondering...is it just me? Mr. Angel is quickly taking a "live-on-stage" profession into the realm of "wrestlers animation". Yes, we all know that those watching wrestling often wonder "is that for real"? Yet, most magicians, hopefully, don't expect the laymen to think that magicians are real.
But we can also perform illusions that are respected by those (not in the know) by performing "in-one" and without cuts, digital enhancements or edits. Someone recently stated that "an edit is a lie"! With edits, cut-aways and out-of-frame advantages, we might as well be watching a cartoon. Let's get back the respect that we non-TV performing magicians once had. Can some noteworthy magicians out there please teach CA a few more effects (and we know that he can do them) that can, not only fool the viewers and (real) spectators, but gain the respect of us who have learned how to perform magic without the use of...yes, camera trickery.
